In this article we discuss the topic of explaining one of the wonderful ways to introduce some foods to children and it is called finger food. Finger food means any food that we serve as fingers, one or two fingers long and one or two fingers wide.

These foods help the child to develop and exercise his fine muscles, i.e. the muscles of the fingers, and help him feel and grasp things, and also help him in the beginning of introducing food to the child's diet, and some of them help him in the teething stage.

Among the foods that we can offer the child as finger food, we find the following:

1. Broccoli and Cauliflower: We cut them lengthwise and steam them for 5 minutes..

2. Cucumber: very useful especially in the teething stage. Cut it lengthwise and steam it for 5 minutes.

3. Potatoes and sweet potatoes: we cut them lengthwise and steam them for half an hour or in the oven.

4. Pumpkin: We peel it well and remove the seeds completely in order to preserve the safety of the child and to avoid being sold by it. Cut it lengthwise and cook it on steam for a quarter of an hour.

5. Green beans: cook with steam for 5 minutes.

6. Eggplant: cut into large pieces and fry in a little olive oil for 10 minutes.

7. Carrots: We cut them lengthwise and steam them for a quarter of an hour. Very popular with children.

8. Apples: we peel and cut them into slices, then cook them on steam for 7 minutes.

9. Peaches, nectarines, pears: we pick them soft, peel them and cut them lengthwise.

Tip: It is very important to present each type in the appropriate way and always under our supervision. We do not leave the child to eat alone until we provide him with water or milk if he needs it. And the child must be in a sitting position for his safety.
